Introduction
Introduction
As
a kid, I dreamed of being a journalist or a news reporter. I have always hated
computer subjects since the first grade, that’s why I am pretty surprised that
I ended up as an IT student. The reason why I was forced to take IT is because
of my parents, and it’s a common reason why there are a lot of IT student
nowadays. As I go on my learning years in college, I learned about programming
and its basic fundamentals, computer systems, networks and the broader aspects
of information technology.
Being
an IT student, I look forward to learn technical skills that would include a
lot of data manipulation, managing network servers, creating programs and other
course related tasks. These jobs are perfectly suited for my knowledge skills
as an IT student. My expectation in this OJT experience is that it will be no
easy task since an insurance company requires a lot of patience with piles of
paper works and record-keeping stuff. As I continue my training in the company,
I expect to learn more about work and how to deal with real-life situations.

Over-all observations
Being one of the well-known
companies in the insurance industry, I have seen how Sterling has proven its
worth and how it has been doing great. As someone who had been a trainee there,
I can say that had such a good experience even though the company isn’t an IT
company. I learned how to manage my time between school and work, and how to
accomplish tasks on time no matter how the pressure is. I have also loved how
work-friendly is the environment there and how everyone is easily accepted as
family. I can say that Sterling Insurance has exceeded my expectations. This
company is undoubtly a trusted and one of the best in the insurance industries.

It
was a busy week at work, we did all the filing, creating weekly reports,
running errands and going to different offices to send something.

The

except when the manager comes in. It was the usual manual filing and recording
for us trainees.

Went
to CNI Global to deliver copies of documents.

with the help of work mates.

filing of papers and running errands.

officemates with doughnuts before we leave. It was sad, but at the same time an

Weekly
Week1
Week
1 was all about familiarization with the people, the workplace, and the task.
Week 2
I
am getting used to the same cycle of endless paper works in the office and I
have become more patient and careful in handling the records.
Week 3
We
had new co-trainees that makes the job less for us.
Week 4
The
manual work has began to drain me, even the others. There are point we just
begin to watch movies or play.
Week 5
This
week, our boss were on a trip, and the other officemates were on the leave, so
we don’t have much to do.
Week 6
I
had an endless task of typing in the typewriter.
Week 7
It
was quite a long break for me before I came back. I am now prepared to go
searching for OR numbers, serial numbers and other important stuff that needs
to be found.
Week 8
It
was the usual filing of papers and endless typewriting but I have gotten used
of it. My neck doesn’t hurt that much anymore due to hours of looking down when
typing.
Week 9
Aside
from office works, I also did cleaning in the office and did arrangements.
Week 10
Answered
fax calls and did a lot of writing of records.
Week 11
Running
errands for the manager, always going up and down the elevator to deliver
something on different offices.
Week 12
Since
it is my last week, it is more of spending time with new friends and
officemates. We had chores but those weren’t as draining like before.
Monthly
June
The first month
was all about learning and familiarization with everything. You had to learn to
be really careful to avoid errors in your work.
July
I am quite
confident that I have mastered the tasks being given to me. It is a good thing
that I am learning to cope up with the pressures in the workplace.
August
As months passed,
I have become more matured in the work place. I have also began communicating
with costumers and asking if they need help in whatever (I do this just in case
the designated people are not there)
September
The last month of my OJT life
is experience and fun-filled. Even though I didn’t get to work on an IT company,
but I still get to apply my knowledge as an IT student, whenever it is needed
in the office.
Over-all experiences
On the overall, it
was a truly amazing experience to get to work with such good people and to
learn a lot. It made me realize how people react to challenges they meet in the
work scenario. This made me prepared for the real life I will face now that I
am about to graduate. Fulfilling my tasks everyday gives me that feeling of
accomplishment that I can do things well. This experience made me better, wiser
and smarter in decision making.
